Ilayathalapathy Vijay has already rocked the Telugu audience with his dubbed versions of his previous movies Thuppaki and Nanban. The actor is back with his latest outing Anna - Born To Lead, which is the Telugu version of his Tamil film Thalaivaa. Its trailer and posters have rocketed the viewers' expectations to the sky high. But the film may not live upto their expectations as it seems to be a continuation of Nayagan and adaptation of NTR's Andhrawala.
Anna - Born To Lead is an action thriller with all masala elements to woo the Telugu audience. Vijay's performance is the main attraction of the film. GV Prakash's music, Nirav Shah's picturisation, Santhanam's comedy, stylishly choreographed action and dance sequences, beautiful locales, costumes and art work are its other highlights. The tried and tested story, dragging narration in the second half and unmatchable background score in a few scenes are its main drawbacks.
The story penned by AL Vijay has already been brought to the screen a couple of times through Kamal Hassan's Nayagan and Junior NTR's Andhrawala. So the film has nothing fresh to offer in terms of the story. The director has made an interesting screenplay with a few commercial elements. Although he has put many twists and turns, he fails to make it a typical 'Vijay' masala film!
AL Vijay, who has done some of the best classical movies like Nanna in the past, has tried his luck to become commercial director with Shiva Thandavam, but has failed to prove his mettle. With Anna, he does it again and fails. What could have been a big mass entertainer turns out to be a damp squib due to the poor handling of the director.
