Shahrukh's Chennai Express 5 Days Collection at Box Office

Most-hyped Bollywood movie Chennai Express, which took the Box Office by storm over the weekend, has continued to rock at the ticket counters on the weekdays too. But the Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has failed to beat the first Monday collection record of Ranbir Kapoor's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. It has become the second biggest grosser on non-holiday Monday.

Chennai Express, which surpassed Rs 100 crore mark in just three days, continued to keep the bells ringing at the Indian Box Office on Monday. When compared to its opening day collection, the Rohit Shetty directed flick witnessed more than 60% dip in its business on the fourth day. The movie further dropped by little margin on Tuesday.

The Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has collected Rs 23.87 crores at the Indian Box Office on Monday and Tuesday together, taking its five-day domestic total to Rs 124.54 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 6.75 cr in PP, Rs 33.12 cr on Fri, Rs 28.05 cr on Sat, Rs 32.50 cr on Sun, Rs 12.62 cr on Mon and Rs 11.50 cr on Tue.

After Eid, Chennai Express is all set to enjoy another holiday in the first week. This Thursday (August 15) happens to be the Independence Day holiday. Trade experts feel that the movie would once again rock at the Box Office and collect Rs 30+ crores on the day. So its first week business is expected to cross Rs 160 crore mark at the domestic Box Office. It would surely beat the first week collection record of Ek Tha Tiger, which had raked in Rs 143.25 crores nett at the nine-day-extended first week.
