Ten Interesting Facts About Hema Malini On Her Birthday

Today is Hema Malini's birthday and the ‘dream girl' turns 65. She was born in a Tamil speaking Chakravarthy family and has enacted in more than 150 films since her debut. The actress was famous for her dance and beauty.
She made her debut in Raj Kapoor's Sapno Ka Saudagar, but the movie flopped. Her first major breakthrough came in the form of Johnny Mera Naam opposite Dev Anand and the movie went on to become a big hit. After that there was no looking back for the gorgeous actress. She went onto star in the 1972 blockbuster Seeta Aur Geeta, in which she played a double role. She received the filmfare award for best actress for the portrayal of twins in the movie.








During the mid 70s, her fans started calling her "Dream Girl", a reference to the movie by the same name in which she starred opposite Dharmendra. Her affair with Dharmendra is well known as he was already married when they fell in love. Both of them converted to Islam to get married. They tied the knot on August 21, 1979.
Hema Malini is a trained Bharatanatyam artist. Malini is also trained in Kuchipudi by Vempati Chinna Satyam and Odissi by Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. She is also a member of the Bharatiya Janta party(BJP). She was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She campaigned for the BJP candidate, Vinod Khanna, former Bollywood actor in the 1999 Lok Sabha Elections in Gurdaspur in Punjab.
